Today we started by doing an observational drawing, I drew my comb. When I was drawing I noticed that in between the teeth of the comb there is a little part where it is "webbed" like webbed fingers. Then we read an article about thinking drawings. A thinking drawing is a sketch that helps you figure out how you are going to make your artwork. Wayne Thiebaud used thinking drawing by repeatedly going back and looking at his sketches and added things. How these sketches related to his final composition was how they showed him what looked good and what didn't, so he would make his artwork look the best it could. In his artwork all the ties are close together and overlapping each other except for the one on the right. I think he did this to show the individuality of the ties that they are all alike but each one has different details and unique designs. The last thing we did today was we did our own thinking drawings and I did my favorite desert. My favorite desert is brownies. I chose to look at a picture online to draw my brownies. I chose the picture of cosmic brownies because they have the most detail because of the sprinkles.

The past week i worked on observing because I drew why earbuds and I had to look at all the small details. When I was drawing I noticed things about my earbuds that I never noticed before. I also worked on express because I was drawing my ballet shoe and that it something that is very important to me because ballet is a big part of my life and it makes me feel happy.
I watched this video to see how to shade with white charcoal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=rbkkhJCM3ac . This week I worked on shading and drawing with pencil. We also tested different materials this week and drawing still life. the different materials that i tested were chalk pastels, colored pencils, and white charcoal. I think i'm going to use white charcoal for my final project. This week I also finished my zine about dance.
As an artist now I am not that great at drawing or sketching but I have fun while doing art. I hope to learn to make my art look better and grow as an artist. The risks I am going to take is I'm going to experiment with my art even if it doesn't look good the first time. My goals for myself as an artist are to try my hardest and make sure that my art is worth showing people and when people see my art they will actually mean it when they say it looks good.
